Intel Corporation recently introduced a UHF RFID radio chip that dramatically enhances the capabilities and design of UHF RFID readers. ?The Intel? UHF RFID Transceiver R1000 integrates onto a single chip approximately 90 percent of the discrete components found in a typical UHF RFID reader radio. The R1000 delivers high performance with significantly lower power consumption, supporting a full range of UHF reader form factors and applications, from short-range handheld readers to long-range dock door readers. ?
The Intel R1000 is packaged with a number of software development tools that speed time-to-market for reader OEMs and ease reader deployment, provisioning, and remote management for end users. It also includes a software stack that provides the device diagnostics, management, and provisioning required for successful enterprise-wide deployment.?
Firmware included with the Intel R1000 supports all modes and data rates of the EPCglobal Gen 2 and ISO 18000-6C standards, including built-in support for dense reader mode (DRM), and regional regulatory requirements such as FCC and ETSI, including built-in support for listen before talk (LBT).

To maintain its leading role as a logistics and supply chain management hub, Hong Kong must continue to enhance its support for the logistics sector.
Hong Kong R&D Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management Enabling Technologies(LSCM R&D Centre) is established with funding support from the Innovation and Technology Commission of the Hong Kong SAR Government and is commissioned to provide a one-stop shop for technology transfer and commercialisation through the following roles:Conduct industry-oriented research.
- Provide technology and market intelligence.
- Provide a platform for exchange of intellectual property (IP)/technology.
- Promote technology development, transfer and knowledge dissemination.
- Facilitate intellectual property (IP) commercialisation.
LSCM R&D Centre is set up by three leading universities in Hong Kong: The Hong Kong University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
The establishment of the Centre is a realization of the coherent force and enthusiasm exhibited by the HKSAR Government, industries and universities.It aims to strengthen collaborative applied research activities between the industry and research organisations.
